Paul Feig is coming to Blake Lively’s defense!
On Tuesday, Prime Video shared on Instagram that A Simple Favor’s sequel, Another Simple Favor, which stars the Gossip Girl alum and Anna Kendrick, will debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, on March 7 and head straight to streaming on May 1. Check out the announcement (below):
It is the absolute worst timing for this film since Blake is in the middle of a nasty legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. Many people are not on her side right now, so the comments section quickly flooded with backlash against the 37-year-old actress! A lot of social media users even asked one burning question: Did she take over the movie from Paul, the director of Another Simple Favor director, too?

As you may recall, Justin accused Blake and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, of taking control of IEWU in the libel lawsuit against The New York Times, even claiming they hired their own editor to work on the film. It resulted in two versions of the movie — one done by Justin and another by the power couple. Despite his edit of the movie testing “significantly higher” than Blake’s, fans ultimately saw her version in theaters. Meanwhile, Justin was essentially “kicked out” of the film by the editing stage. The director pushed to the sidelines of his own movie. Yikes…
With that in mind, folks couldn’t help but wonder if Blake did the same to Paul! One person commented:
“Is it Paul Feig’s cut or Blake’s cut?”
Well, Paul entered the comments section to clear everything up! He even praise Blake for being “a dream” colleague! The filmmaker responded to the social media user, saying:
“It’s my cut. There is no other cut. Blake has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with. She is the best and an amazing collaborator and I’m her biggest fan. Just wanted to clear that up.”
We highly doubt Justin would say the same about her now… See his defense of Blake (below):

This isn’t the first time Paul has supported Blake amid the legal dispute! When The Times article about her sexual harassment and smear campaign allegations dropped in December, he wrote on X (Twitter):
“I’ve now made two movies with Blake and all I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented and kind people I’ve ever worked with. She truly did not deserve any of this smear campaign against her. I think it’s awful she was put through this.”
It’s safe to say Paul is on Team Blake! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Do you plan to watch Another Simple Favor when it comes out? Let us know in the comments!
