Mrs. O Looking Stylish In Jakarta

Earlier this week, Michelle Obama and her hubs President Barack Obama paid a visit to Jakarta's Istiqlal Mosque in Indonesia.

The first lady stayed true to her style by wearing a pale green suit by Harlem designer Stephen Burrows and a leopard print head scarf with turquoise fringe.

And in case you're wondering why she's not wearing any shoes, Mrs. O took them off as a sign of respect.

Protesters Threaten To Burn Down Gay Film Festival In Indonesia.

Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayFilm FlickersSad SadLGBT

Just awful.

A film festival in Jakarta, Indonesia that attempts to raise awareness of gay issues reportedly turned violent due to protesting from an Islamic extremist group last night.

Members of the Islamic Defender Front allegedly took to wearing masks, chanting homophobic war cries, and even threatened to set fire to the venue, being hosted by the Q! Film Festival.

Although the festival's co-founder, John Badalu, originally claimed that “We’re still going to go on," some of last night's screenings had to be stopped in order to insure that the violence would not escalate.

So unbelievably sad that so many people continue to live with that much anger and hate inside of them.

It honestly just breaks our heart.

Kelly Responds To Smoking Controversy

After ads popped up in Jarkarta, Indonesia will L.A. Lights cigarettes sponsoring Kelly Clarkson's concert, Kelly responded to the controversy on her blog:

"So ….my morning began with finding out that I am all over billboards, tv ads, and other media formats along side a tobacco company who unbeknownst to me is sponsoring my Jakarta date on my current tour. I was not made aware of this and am in no way an advocate or an ambassador for youth smoking. I’m not even a smoker, nor have I ever been. Unfortunately, my only option at this point was to cancel the show in order to stop the sponsorship.

"However, I can’t justify penalizing my fans for someone else’s oversight. This is a lose-lose situation for me and I am not happy about it but the damage has been done and I refuse to cancel on my fans. I think the hardest part of situations like this is getting personally attacked for something I was completely unaware of and being used as some kind of political pawn."

While we think it sucks she's essentially advertising for smoking, we do think it's commendable that she explored her available options and decided not to let down her fans.

Lose-lose situation indeed!

Kelly Clarkson Advocates Smoking??

Uh-oh! She is going to piss off a lot of people, regardless of what she chooses!

Kelly Clarkson, who has never had a problem speaking out against things she doesn't like, is set to perform in concert in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.

However, Indonesia apparently has no laws against advertising tobacco related products commercially, and one of the country's most popular brand of cigarettes, L.A. Lights, is sponsoring the pop star's show - and throwing advertisements up all over the town with her face next to the brand name of the cigarettes!

WTF?? Unacceptable!!

The singer has now come under fire from various anti-smoking campaigns back in the States!

Matt Myers, President of the Tobacco-Free Kids Campaign, says:

"If Kelly Clarkson goes ahead with the concert, she is by choice being a spokesman for the tobacco industry and helping them to market to children. She has the power now to turn this situation around and to send a clear message to Indonesian young people and, frankly, to the young people of the world."

Given Indonesia's growing problem with tobacco usage in their youth, not to mention in the rest of the world, we have to agree!

By complying to their sponorship, she's advocating and promoting smoking habits! Absolutely disgusting.

Neither Clarkson nor her label have commented or made a statement, but we're sure it's coming!

We hope she makes the right decision.
