A Guilty Barry Bonds Get Sentenced To…

Barry Bonds house arrest

30 days of house arrest!

That's a little harsh, don't ya think? Ha!

After being found guilty of felony obstruction in April because he lied to a jury during a 2003 federal investigation of steroid use in the MLB, Barry Bonds has to stay home for a month.

Hopefully the judge remembered to take away his video games and ESPN subscription too so Barry has time to really think about what he's done.

The home run king will also be on probation for 2 years and has to pay a $4,000 fine, but we're sure that was pretty easily covered by the cash he was carrying in his wallet.

Once again, a famous person has avoided serving any time in prison for committing a crime you're supposed to go to prison for.

In Bonds' case, federal sentencing guidelines recommend between 15 and 21 months in the slammer. Apparently, however, guidelines are a lot like laws and are meant to be broken.

We're not quite sure if this case was even worth the judge and jury's time or the taxpayers' money, but hopefully Barry finally learned a valuable lesson that most kids learn by kindergarten — don't tell lies!

Nancy Kerrigan’s Brother Sentenced To Jail For Assault

Nancy Kerrigan’s Brother Sentence To Jail For Assault

While Mark Kerrigan, Nancy Kerrigan’s brother, was acquitted from charges linking him to his father’s death, he was sentenced to two and a half years today for assaulting his 70-year-old father.

Nancy plead with the judge:

"None of us has had a chance to grieve for my father. Please send him home with us today so we can grieve as a family."

Mark also made a plea:

"I lost my father, and I miss him very much. I'd like the opportunity to go home with my family."

Mark will be eligible for parole in six months.

Hopefully he learns a lesson from his sentence.

Nancy Kerrigan's Brother Awaiting Verdict On Manslaughter Charge

Nancy Kerrigan

Nancy Kerrigan's brother, Mark, is currently waiting for jury deliberations on whether or not he is guilty of killing his father, Daniel Kerrigan.

Mark got into a violent argument while intoxicated with his 70-year-old father who died from heart failure as a result on January 24, 2010.

The prosecutor referred to Mark as an "angry, mean, nasty, drunk son" while asking the jury for a guilty verdict under the charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery on a person 60 years or older causing serious bodily injury.

We would naturally assume this would tear the Olympic gold medalist's family apart, but Nancy and her mother, Brenda, actually SUPPORT Mark. In fact, Brenda even testified on his behalf.

Although accused of grabbing his father around the neck during the fight that may have lead to his death, Brenda said the altercation lasted only a few seconds with Mark never touching his father's neck. Instead, she claims she saw her son "bear hug" her husband around his waist, then watched him fall to the floor "like a feather coming right out of the sky."

Guilty or not, this is a pretty awful circumstance for any family to go through.

If convicted of manslaughter, Mark could serve simple probation or up to 20 years in prison, while the assault and battery charges carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.
