Alicia Silverstone Sends Letter To Putin, Asking For Vegan Diet For Pussy Riot

alicia-silver-pussy-riots-putin-letter-web.jpg

While we know her intentions were good, this may not be the right way for Alicia Silverstone to ask for tofu.

The actress has sent a letter to Russian president Vladimir Putin, asking that Pussy Riot's Maria Alekhina, a vegan, has access to a vegan diet.

The letter wants Putin to "assure" her about Alekhina's diet, and states the following:

I'm sure you can agree that everyone has the right to show compassion and refrain from hurting animals by being vegan.

Madonna supports the cause, Alicia supports their diet…

Same thing, right?

Letter From Ke$ha To Lady Gaga Faked, But Still True

Filed under: Sad SadLady GaGaKe$haAnimal CrueltyFur

kesha-lady-gaga-fur-fight-real.jpg

There is a letter going around the internet that is supposed to be from Ke$ha to Lady Gaga calling her out on wearing real fur.

This letter has been called "not legit" by Ke$ha's management team, saying she didn't write it, but that doesn't make it any less true.

Ke$ha LOOOOVES animals! She's the Humane Society's Global Ambassador!

The hoax (but still true) letter said:

"It upsets me to see you, a role model to many, especially those who are fashion forward would openly endorse such a cruel and inhumane practice. Animals are skinned and tortured for hours in order to make the fur that you, and other individuals of the upper class, lavishing wear around proudly."

The letter then begs Gaga to change her ways, saying:

"I can not begin to explain the amount of torture, harm and cruelty that is used when handling these animals that are ultimately killed for your pleasure. I hope this note has struck a chord with you and you strongly reconsider your decision to wear fur again."

Again, we know the letter is fake but everything it says still rings true.

Wearing fur is wrong and cruel and should not be done by ANYONE.

Especially someone others might consider a role model.

TAKE OFF THE FUR!

Who knew Tommy Lee's letter was FULL of fighting words!

As reported earlier, the Motley Crue drummer sent a letter to SeaWorld, tag-teamed with PETA, to DEMAND the water park stop blasting Crue music and hurting its killer whales.

Turns out, SeaWorld doesn't even play Motley Crue…EVA!

PETA Gets The National Guard To Cancel A Cruel Circus Act

The Liebel Family Circus was going to perform several shows at National Guard armories in Arkansas.

Luckily PETA stepped in and wrote a letter to Major General William D. Wofford of the Arkansas National Guard and explained how the circus's owner, Hugo Liebel has been hit with almost three dozen violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

Immediately realizing he didn't want the National Guard to be associated with such cruelty, Major General Wofford cancelled four scheduled performances.

Hugo Liebel is a cruel man with a long history of animal abuse, from tying down or chaining up animals to the point where they can't move, to literally beating them with bullhooks and electric prods.

We are so glad that PETA stepped in and was able to send a message that animal abuse will NOT be tolerated.

Jada Pinkett Smith Wants The Bullhook Ban Enforced

jada-pinkett-smith-elep-ban-bullhook.jpg

Jada Pinkett Smith is a native of Baltimore and as Ringling Bros. circus nears its Baltimore stop Jada has penned a letter to the Mayor.

She wants to urge her to make sure there is a ban on any "mechanical, electrical, or manual device that is likely to cause physical injury or suffering" to an animal in order to force it to perform.

In her letter, she wrote:

"Unlike me and other actors, elephants do not choose to perform. They are often violently coerced by Ringling's trainers with bullhooks, which are jabbed into the sensitive areas of their bodies."

So let's hope the Mayor makes sure to keep Ringling honest or else the circus may face another huge fine.

Woody Harrelson was the driving force behind an initiative to get the army to stop using chimps in their experiments.

Now he has set his sights on California Senator Barbara Boxer, the chair of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

He wrote her a letter on PETA's behalf, asking her to join the over 160 senators and representatives who support the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act.

These acts would stop the use of chimps and other great apes in testing in the U.S. and save tax payers millions.

An excerpt from the letter reads:
