Barry Cadden, the owner and director of the New England Compounding Center that was found to be the source of the fungal meningitis outbreak, has appeared before Congress!

When questioned he plead the Fifth.

That meant that he was exercising his constitutional rights to not be forced to incriminate himself.

So the whole hearing in front of Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Florida, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations went like this:

Meningitis Outbreak Slowing Down!

Finally! Some good news!

The pace of the meningitis outbreak has been slowing down.

Though don't celebrate just yet.

The numbers have still risen since we last reported them.

There are now 438 cases in 19 states. The death toll is 32.

Around 14,000 people are possibly at risk after having gotten the contaminated steroid shots.

They could potentially get the disease as well.

So though the numbers are lowering, we're not out of the woods just yet.

Check out the video (above) to learn a little more about some of the new developments in this awful outbreak.

Meningitis Outbreak: Things Getting WORSE!

We previously mentioned that the fungal meningitis outbreak is far from over… and sadly, that's been true.

The outbreak has now spread to 19 states and has made 347 people sick!

Rhode Island became the 19th state to report that the outbreak has affected someone.

This is getting ridiculous!

We've said it before but still, we're so thankful that it's not contagious.

Massachusetts health officials are moving to revoke the license of the New England Compounding Center who's contaminated medications started this whole outbreak.

We think something fundamental needs to change in the compounding pharmacy industry so that something like this never happens again.

Check out the video (above) to hear how the FDA is responding to this crisis.

We previously mentioned that a fungal meningitis outbreak has happened because of drugs from a contaminated pharmacy.

So far, 15 people are dead and at least 200 others are sick.

The FDA is widening its search for the cause of all the meningitis, believing other drugs might be causing the problems.

Ugh, we knew it was going to get worse — and maybe it's our fault for wondering out loud just how bad it was going to get.
