On Wednesday at 6:07 p.m. EST, radio stations around the country will honor Prince together by simultaneously playing Nothing Compares 2 U.
The idea began at KCMP 89.3 in the Purple One's home town of Minneapolis.

Director Jim McGuinn says "The Current" asked fellow stations to join them in playing the Prince-written song — turned into a smash hit by Sinead O'Connor — to "honor the man we called our friend," saying:
"Like no artist in our lifetimes, Prince united people with his music. Black, white, young, old, rich, poor, he cut across all boundaries with music that touched on rock, funk, soul, pop, R&B, new wave and jazz, and the world responded."
Nothing Compares 2 U begins with the lament, "It's been 7 hours and 13 days since you took your love away" (Sinead's version is 15 days); 6:07 on May 4 will mark exactly 7 hours and 13 days since Prince's April 21 passing.
WFUV New York, WXPN Philadelphia, and KEXP Seattle are among the stations that have already agreed to join in.
You can ask your local station to participate in the tribute as well!
