Connecting a fist to a face is probably the most important part of boxing, but there are lots of little important details involved in the sport too. FitPerez reader Harry wants to find functional footwear to wear in the ring and wrote boxing pro Alex Brenes for advice, asking:

Hi Alex,

Love your gym on Melrose in LA! Freaking Awesome. Question –- looking for some great boxing shoes –- my sneakers arent cutting it -– any ideas?

Nick Carter auction shoes

Woo hoo!

As we mentioned last week, Nick Carter put a pair of Jordan's on eBay signed by all the members of New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys to auction off for charity.

We're happy to report that the final bid closed on Monday morning at $16,100, which will directly benefit environmental organization Global Green USA.

It's awesome to see celebs using their popularity for good. We're glad these shoes made somebody happy and that somebody in return made the environment a little happier too! LOLz!

So, she's merged her two passions into one by creating HKNB, her new line of New Balance running sneakers.

Available in three stylish colors, the collection includes two popular heritage models, the 410 and the 320. Speaking of her new line, Heidi says:

"We all need a good pair of sneakers whether its for running to the gym or running to the store. I have extended my line with New Balance and designed a few stylish pairs of sneakers. Very exciting!"

We're equally excited! The shoes look fun and comfortable! We're already inspired to get out there and take a jog!

QuickFit Tip Of The Day

QFTD Blue 1

Be mindful about what footwear you decide to exercise in – don’t go cheap on your shoes.

Wearing the wrong shoes to workout in can lead to terrible consequences. Bishop, et al. (2006) found that individuals who wore shoes that did not fit their feet properly, had tread that was wearing down, or were designed for a different activity than the one the person was performing (i.e. wearing hiking boots while playing tennis) contributed to injuries that ranged from sprained ankles to ruptured Achilles tendons. To make it plain and simple—-DON’T GO CHEAP ON YOUR SHOES.

The Secret Of Running

The fellas at Dynamics of Motion are back to share with you The Secret of Running!

Did you know most running related injuries occur because thick padding on the sole of "running" shoes encourages us to land with our heel first on the ground, instead of the ball of the foot.

Landing on the heel is often the reason for many knee, ankle, and even back inuries!

Check out video above to learn the proper running technique and get the most out of your workout, while avoiding any injuries!

QuickFit Tip Of The Day

QFTD White

Bring your workout clothes and sneakers with you to work. This way, after you get off work, you can head straight to the gym. If you have to go home to change, you are more likely to find excuses to stay at home, and less likely to make it to the gym.
