Dale Earnhardt Jr. is looking back on his final conversation with Kyle Busch.
As you know, the NASCAR star suddenly and tragically died last week, leaving the entire sport shocked and mourning. Now, Dale Jr. is speaking out on the tragedy, and he’s sharing the last conversation he ever had with his old pal and competitor.
During the latest episode of his Dale Jr. Podcast, the 51-year-old said of Kyle:
“I was texting with him the day before he passed away about getting together this Thursday to bring his seat for his late model over to my shop. We had agreed that he was going to race our car in the CARS Tour.”

He continued, revealing that the 41-year-old was planning to surprise fans by racing with the old model number 8 in the tour:
“He’s texting me, and he’s like, ‘What scheme we going to run?’ And I was like, ‘You can run any scheme you want.’ I was like, ‘What number do you want to run?’ He goes … he said it, literally, ‘The Dale Jr. 8.’ I was like, ‘You got it’.”
After this, Dale Jr. said Kyle sent an exploding head emoji, saying that’s how his fans would react when they saw him racing the Budweiser no. 8 car. Sounds like they were both so excited to share that iconic moment with fans! So heartbreaking.
