Jana Kramer is coming to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s defense about this aspect of their wedding!
As you know, the bride and groom had none other than their friend Adam Sandler serve as the officiant for their Madison Square Garden wedding in New York City last week! Fans, however, couldn’t help but scratch their heads at the decision to have the 59-year-old act perform the ceremony! It was a very unexpected choice! However, Jana thinks it was the perfect one!

The One Tree Hill alum defended Taylor and Travis’ pick on an episode of her Whine Down podcast on Friday. Although some may see Adam as nothing more than a jokester who can’t take things seriously due to his long line of comedy movies, Jana shared that he can actually be a very “sentimental” guy off-camera! And the actress would know! She saw it firsthand while working with him on the 2006 film Click:
“Everyone was like, ‘Oh, that’s an interesting choice.’ I will say [on] the Adam Sandler piece of things, I met him a million years ago. I did that movie Click with him. It almost does make sense to me now because he does have that sentimental [personality] like, he’s just such a sweet man. He really is, and he’s a good man. So I could see him being really funny, but then also really grounded and sentimental.”
Jana said Adam is “very intentional when he speaks, and I feel like I’ve seen that,” adding:
“A lot of comedians you think they’re going to be these very outwardly kind of crazy and wild, [and] he was so soft spoken. You know what I mean? Sweet and quiet. I remember watching him on set and just being like, ‘Wow.’ I always envisioned Adam Sandler as like Happy Gilmore.”
Ultimately, Jana knows he was the best person for the job! And she’s right! We heard Adam took the role very seriously, and he even gave the best advice of the night to the newlyweds! And look, this was Taylor and Travis’ wedding! As long as they were happy with how things turned out with Adam as their officiant, that’s what matters most at the end of the day! Who then cares what the haters and doubters have to say!
