Oop!
Rebecca Romijn was really bothered by what her ex-husband John Stamos wrote about their marriage! That’s what hubby no. 2 Jerry O’Connell says, at least!
Back in 2023, the Full House alum sparked a feud with the couple when he released the memoir If You Would Have Told Me. While promoting the book, he made several harsh comments about Rebecca, including calling her “the devil!” Oh, and that he “hated” her! Yikes! As for what he said in the book? Well, he didn’t write great things about their relationship! John claimed tensions arose after they tied the knot in 1998 due to the influence of her “toxic friends” and her rise in fame:
“As I’m lifting Rebecca up, I’m losing myself. She makes it clear that I’m the TV guy and she’s the newly minted star. … Somewhere deep inside, I start to believe it.”

John said they faced “ups and downs” during their marriage, including “zero talk about having kids and starting a family” despite it “always” being part of their plan together. Unfortunately, the actor felt Rebecca became too “busy with her career and new friends,” especially to notice that he was “slipping away.” He then hinted that “something cruel and calculating” infiltrated their once “pleasant” relationship (which many have interpreted to mean suspicions of alleged cheating):
“She smiles at me a little less, doesn’t look me in the eyes over dinner, takes phone calls in the other room. … Betrayal starts as a sinking feeling in your stomach, grows into a suspicion that clouds your every thought, and by the time you find out the truth, it’s uniquely horrible at first but also expected, like you’ve been waiting for something bad to happen. There’s nothing more to say. There’s a point of no return, and what felt like a phase is now her phasing me out for good.”
They split in 2003, went public with it a year later, and finalized their divorce in 2005. A rep for the former couple previously denied that cheating caused the divorce, but John seemingly says otherwise now!
Rebecca later made it clear John’s book rubbed her the wrong way, telling Entertainment Tonight:
“I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually. I was sort of blindsided by it. But you know, I don’t really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that’s all I really want to say about it.”
But according to Jerry, she really downplayed her reaction to the book! The Jerry Maguire star said on the Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa podcast that Rebecca was “really upset” that he wrote about the end of their marriage:
“Getting back to Rebecca Romijn and John Stamos’ relationship, my wife was very upset that John Stamos wrote a memoir — which was riveting. It’s terrific. I’m sure you can get it. But there was a chapter about the demise of their marriage, and it really upset my wife that he put that in there. Now, if you’re gonna write a memoir and you’re John Stamos, you gotta put that in there, you know?”
It’s expected! And honestly, a memoir about his life would’ve felt incomplete without it! Kelly Ripa interjected to say “people wanna read about that part” before questioning:
“Did he send her the chapter involving her before the book came out?”
To which Jerry replied:
“That’s up to my wife to tell you. I don’t believe he did, but that’s up to my wife to tell you if my wife had a heads-up. I don’t believe my wife had a heads-up.”
Well, Rebecca already gave us the answer! She was “blindsided” by the book, though she refused to fire back at his comments! If only she’d give her side of the story of what ended their marriage now! Jerry, make it happen! LOLz!
Luckily, though, it seems like water may be passing under the bridge as Jerry recently opened up about a POSITIVE encounter he had with John at a party. So at least they can be cordial!
