Seven months after the Sally, When the Wine Runs Out singer was spotted holding hands with the Fifty Shades of Grey actress in El Lay, we finally have concrete confirmation of their romance! During an interview with Nylon published on Tuesday, Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, opened up about Dakota’s feature on his new song, Love I You.

ICYMI, the 29-year-old recently took his Chuck On Tour to Chicago, where he debuted the song, which features a cheeky back-and-forth between the pair. Role Model says, “Hey, I think you’re perfect” before a familiar-sounding voice responds over the speakers, “You say that to everyone.” The singer goes on, “Kay, well is it working?” to which Dakota responds, “Yeah, but don’t tell anyone.” You can ch-ch-check out the full back-and-forth (below):

During his interview with Nylon, Role Model said he “had a lot of names to pick from that,” but it was ultimately his guitarist and producer Mason Stoops who encouraged Dakota to do it:

“Dakota came to the studio one day and Mason was like, ‘Why don’t you do it?’”

However, since the lovebirds have been keeping things pretty low-key on the publicity front, Role Model recalled his gut reaction being to shut the idea down:

“I was like, ‘Stop! We’re not mixing work and relationships.’”

But The Materialists actress was all for it:

“She was like, ‘I’ll do it,’ and stood right up and got in the booth and knocked it out better than we could have imagined. So I was like, ‘OK, if she’s down — I mean, that’s an amazing cameo.’”

Love that!

The full song is set to debut on Role Model’s new Chuck Timely & The Hourglass album, which drops on Friday. We can’t wait to listen to the full thing!

But while Role Model has now officially confirmed his romance with Dakota, don’t get your hopes up that he’ll be super open going forward. He told the outlet:

“Keeping things about music is what I’ve learned. Otherwise, the internet just has a field day … Everyone’s a detective.”
