The man made $1.2 million a week to be himself on TV. We can’t imagine how he could blow through that much money on porn stars and coke. Then again…
Sources are reporting that Charlie may be yanking all our chains with this act of insanity (kinda) in order to bring a little cash-money into his life again. Reportedly, Charlie is currently “cash poor” and desperately needs $$$ to maintain his, um, lifestyle.
According to an insider, what money Charlie does have is “tied up in property or business dealings,” and self-promoting himself may be the way to get him out of the red. However, he’s also setting his sights a bit higher than that. His lack of funds is supposedly the reasoning behind his fight against CBS to pay him the “$16 million he lost when CBS originally suspended production on the eight remaining episodes of this season.” He also is desperately hoping that Two and A Half Men continues, even if it is without him, because he’ll get paid regardless.
How’s that now? Well, Charlie claims to have a “Michael J. Fox Clause” in his contract. Years ago, when Spin City was on the air, Michael still got paid after he left the show and was replaced by Charlie. Seeing how well that worked out for him, Charlie allegedly insisted on the same deal for himself.
Good deal – for him. Not such a smart move on the studio’s part.
