Who here knows that Nick Cannon started his career as a stand up comedian??
Did you know he was only 15 when he started it, doing gigs at the Laugh Factory, before he landed All That in 2002? Staff writer for the show at age 17??
The guy knows comedy, he isn’t just a host, musician, and actor! And he’s finally getting to showcase that with a stand-up special on Showtime!
Now that’s legit!
It’s called Nick Cannon: Mr. Showbiz, and it was filmed last month in Vegas!
Here’s a bit of what Nick has to say about it:
“I see stand-up as a therapeutic outlet to say whatever I want. When you’re up there on stage, it’s no holds barred. You don’t have to be politically correct. All the pressure is gone. It’s just you and the microphone.
“People forget that I started out doing stand-up. I’m actually going back to my roots. I’m a comic at heart. I love being married to one of the most famous people in the world,” he says. But the downfall is people feel like they can say whatever they want to say about my wife to my face. So I hear the strangest things. But that lends itself to a lot of great humor.
“I don’t take anything too seriously. And that’s one of the aspects of my show. You can’t be too serious because at the end of the day it’s just entertainment.”
We haven’t seen any of your stand-up, unfortunately, but we’re excited to see this! From what we can tell from your charismatic hosting, we’re willing to bet you’re a rather decent comedian!
