Stagehand's Death Results In Cancellation Of Performance Of Daniel Radcliffe's How To Succeed Musical

Sudden Death Cancels How To Succeed

So sad.

Last night’s performance of How To Succeed had to be cancelled after a stagehand died from a drug overdose according to the police.

It had nothing to do with the show or stage malfunctions, so there is no worry there. It just happened to be a shock and a tragedy, so they cancelled the show out of respect for the loss of life.

Sadly, it also would have been the show’s 100th show. Here’s some more detail:

According to the police, the stagehand, a 29-year-old man, was found unconscious and in cardiac arrest backstage shortly before 8 p.m. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital nearby, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A police spokesman said that there was no criminality suspected and that investigators believed the man died from an overdose.

DanRad and his co-star were the ones who came out on stage to break the news to the audience of the cancellation, and everyone was understanding. Everyone was given a full refund and a very sincere apology from the cast and crew.

It’s very sad to see someone go, but we hope that everyone can continue on with their jobs soon, because the show must go on, as they say.

We’ll be thinking of those who were close to the loss.
