Bernie Madoff And Wife Tried To Kill Themselves After Ponzi Scheme Was Made Public

Ruth Madoff has been through SO much.
During a new interview with CBS Evening News, Bernie Madoff’s wife Ruth admits to the world that she and her husband tried to kill themselves after the ponzi scheme was revealed.
Here’s what she had to say about it:

├óΓé¼┼ôI don├óΓé¼Γäót know whose idea it was, but we decided to kill ourselves because it was just so horrendous. We had terrible phone calls. Hate mail, just beyond anything and I said, ‘I just can├óΓé¼Γäót go on anymore.”

And here’s Ruth on their attempt to overdose on Ambien (and possibly Klonopin):

“I took what we had, he took more. That added to the depression. We took pills and woke up the next day. It was very impulsive and I am glad we woke up.”

We obviously understand why they would feel helpless, but suicide is never the answer.
Such a sad situation.
