Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark Celebrates The New Year By Shattering Broadway Box Office Records

Spider-man success
Sure, Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark got off to a rough start, but recent weeks have shown that there is hope for Broadway’s most expensive musical ever to make its $75 million budget back.
In fact, the most popular show on Broadway right now just beat out Wicked to set the record for the highest single-week gross of any show in history by ending last week with $2,941,790.20!
The production didn’t just inch past the wildly popular Wicked either, it blew the record out of the water by over $700,000!
With 17,375 people in the audience throughout the week, Spider-Man also set the record for highest single-week attendance by any show in Broadway history that was playing a standard 9-show schedule.
Congrats! It looks like 2012 will be the year of Spidey in NYC! With a new movie coming out this summer, our spider-sense is tingling and only foresee the interest in this musical continuing to grow throughout the year!
Maybe Spider-Man‘s recent success on Broadway will inspire other superhero musicals. We’d love to see Don Cheadle reprise his role as Captain Planet! LOLz!
What superheroes would U like to see get their own show on Broadway?
