Andrew Lloyd Webber sure as hell isn’t giving up hope!
Love Never Dies, the sequel to the musical The Phantom of Opera, hasn’t been that well received by the theater community. Since its run in London, there has been talk of taking it to many other cities in the world BESIDES New York, but Webber isn’t letting up. Next week, he is said to be taking a taped performance from the Sydney, Australia, cast to executives in New York in hopes of sparking from interest.
Adds Michael Riedel of the New York Post:

“[Andrew] hopes the movie will spark interest in future live productions. There are no official plans for ├óΓé¼┼ôLove Never Dies├óΓé¼┬¥ just yet. But if those influential insiders like what they see, the show could wind up on Broadway next season. One strategy may be to tour it across the country before bringing it to New York.”

That could be a good strategy. A lot could be changed on the road with the show before it ends up on the Great White Way. Hell, the show went through several major changes from the London production to the one opening in Sydney. While we know it doesn’t hold a candelabra to the original, we’re still fairly interested in seeing the story continue on stage.
If the show came to your town, would U be interested in seeing it?
