Gah! We thought that we had heard the last of all of the Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark drama!
Guess not!
Although we had reported that former director Julie Taymor, who was fired from the troubled production back last March, is now claiming in court papers that she was a victim of CONSPIRACY, and that her former collaborators on the project – Michael Cohl, Jeremiah J. Harris, and Glen Berger – were secretly working on a rival script without her knowledge so they could push her out!
According to her legal team, who were in court yesterday defending claims for an earlier countersuit from producers, Taymor was told that the production told her they were very pleased with her direction and story in various e-mail exchanges, while Berger was secretly told to change the story without her knowledge, called Plan X, and that he frustrated by having to lead a “double life” pretending to support his former co-writer.
They alleged:
“While secretly conspiring to oust Taymor and use and change her work without pay, the producers also fraudulently induced Taymor to continue working and to diligently make improvements. The producers’ current suggestion that they have created a ‘new’ show after a mere three-week shutdown is false and incredible.”
Meanwhile, Dale Cendali, who represents the producers legally, countered:
“It’s very disheartening for the former director of the show to take no responsibility for the consequences of her actions while, at the same time, trying to claim credit for the show’s success.”
Good lord!
We have a headache just reading all of this!
Sounds to us like everyone involved just cannot accept that they are responsible for creating a really crappy, dangerous show, and are trying to defend their egos by pointing the finger of blame elsewhere!
So just figure this shiz out and be done with it! Please!
