After nearly 50 years of service, Helen Thomas won’t be getting her own table at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
Thomas, a former WHCA president, retired from her post as a syndicated columnist for Hearst newspapers after making some controversial comments on Israel.
And it looks like the White House Correspondents Association still got beef.
The WHCA told her that she could still have two tickets to the dinner but Helen thought that wasn’t good enough.
After all, she did break the gender barrier at the dinner with the help of JFK…
The journalist sent a letter to the WHCA, asking them to allow her to share the 50th anniversary of women being allowed to the dinner with her family. Her main defense is that she’s had a table for years and still writes an article or two for the Falls Church New Press…
And…she broke the gender barrier at the dinner!
Her request was ultimately denied. The current president, Caren Bohan of Reuters, states that the WHCA is just following the policy, stating that Thomas is still allowed her two tickets….
Just not a whole table.
