GOODNESS GRACIOUS. We may have had a mini conniption fit after reading this news!
The country music ICON Loretta Lynn is bringing her life story to the Great White Way, and bambi eyed, effervescent, multi-talented Zooey Deschanel will lend her sweet-as-pie voice to the part!
Loretta announced the news Thursday at a Grand Ol Opry performance in Nashville, before bringing Zooey on stage for a duet of her signature tune, Coal Miner’s Daughter.
The whole glorious event went something like…
Check it out …AFTER THE JUMP!!!
Loretta: “I have a friend here tonight. I don’t know if ya’ll remember when Sissy Spacek was with me. I brought her out here with me. She about fainted. We both fainted. She went on to do the ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter,’ and you know from there. Well, there’s a little girl backstage that’s going to do the play of `Coal Miner’s Daughter’ on Broadway. Zooey, where you at honey?”
Zooey walks on stage.
Loretta: “Are you going to help me sing `Coal Miner’s Daughter’?”
Zooey: “I’m going to help you sing. This is a great honor for me. This is my hero.”
The two duet, beautifully.
Loretta ends the night: “Don’t forget her name. Her name is Zooey.”
