Looks like Kate Hudson might be going to court soon.

The actress has being accused of stealing! And profiting from it.

This past June, Hudson created and launched her own line of hair-care products with her celeb stylist, David Babaii.

The product, David Babaii for Wildaid, is an eco-friendly collection of shampoos and styling aids which is said to contain a special key ingredient, volcanic ash.

However, Los Angeles-based company 220 Laboratories has filed a complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court against Hudson, Babaii, and their current manufacturer, Universal.

The lawsuit claims 17 offenses against them, particularly misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, breach of confidence, fraud, and the list goes on.

According to 220 Laboratories, they were the only supplier of volcanic ash in the USA. They said they entered into an “oral contract” with Hudson and Babaii back in August 2006 to develop and manufacture the hair products.

220 Labs claims they disclosed their “confidential” ingredient list to the pair back in November, and that Hudson and Babaii took the ash samples and went out to find a cheaper deal.

Even more, 220 Labs is claiming that the two thieves even went as far as using promotional footage of the 220 Lab team collecting ash in Vanuatu to promote their products, after they had signed with Universal.

They also claim the competitors’ products and packaging are too similar to their original idea.

220 Labs is suing for an unspecified amount to include special damages and attorneys’ fees. And are asking for an injunction against competitors’ use of their products.

Hudson’s publicist says, “Kate and her attorneys are only just learning of the complaint, as Kate has not yet been served. Kate does not know the plaintiffs and has never met with them or spoken with them. Her representatives believe that the claims are baseless and without merit and intend to vigorously defend the lawsuit.”

Have fun in court!
