Robert Downey Jr. has not done drugs in 5 or 6 years, and he says it feels like a lifetime.
He does not have any desire or “conscious memory of that life,” but he does not shut the door on it. He doesn’t pretend it never happened.
Rob makes sure to stress that he definitely does not take his sobriety for granted. It actually is what helps him to stay clean, by taking responsibility, ├óΓé¼┼ôwhether you’re outraged by the results or not….”
He also explains that he relies on self discipline and respect for life and all it offers, since it clearly could have been taken away if he didn’t change his ways.
Well, it is apparent that Robert is back on track, with the release of Iron Man 2 and his upcoming film Due Date. “This is just the sweet spot of my career and my life so far, and strangely, they’ve come at the same time.”
