It has been 17 years since the influential rapper passed away but his music lives on forever, and it looks like his mother is carrying on his legacy!
A new Broadway show inspired by the late Tupac Shakur is headed to the big stage later this year!
Holler If Ya Hear Me, a musical written by Todd Kreidler, is not a biography about the rapper but instead, uses his lyrical genius to portray and create a story about inner city struggle, friendship, family, revenge, change, and hope.
The show is still in its early stages, but production is underway and they’re planning on bringing the musical to life by May 26th with an official opening on June 19th at one of Broadway’s largest venues, the Palace Theatre!
The production will be directed by Kenny Leon, who is also working on A Raisin in the Sun, and produced by the Dear Mama rapper’s mother alongside Eric L Gold, Chunsoo Shin, and Jessica Green.
This sounds like a first for Broadway, with a show being centered around hip-hop and rap music, we think it’ll bring a new culture to NYC!
