We’ve all heard the health benefits of low carb Atkins-style diets and how they can help you drop a few pounds!
But did you know they can also be good for your brain??
New research has shown the Ketogenic diet (as similar low carb, high protein diet) has shown signs of helping fight the symptoms of depression and even bipolar disorder! Psychiatrist Michael Berk spoke out about the study, saying:
“It’s a very new field; the first papers only came out a few years ago. But the results are unusually consistent, and they show a link between diet quality and mental health.”
While the research is still in its early stages, some people have already seen improvement in their mental health thank to these kinds of diets!
Jodi Corbit of Catonsville, Maryland has been dealing with depression for years and saw a noticeable change when she adopted a Ketogenic diet to lose weight:
“It was like a veil lifted and I could see life more clearly. It changed everything.”
There are still some people who are skeptical of the links between these diets and mental health, but Jodi isn’t the first person to see improvements thanks to a low-carb lifestyle!
In fact, diets like these have been used for centuries to help reduce seizures and has even been shown to help with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, and cancer!
Looks like it’s time to adopt a Ketogenic diet!!
