Anya Taylor-Joy is facing some serious backlash over a new Instagram post!
On Sunday afternoon, the Queen’s Gambit actress took to the photo-sharing platform to showcase some behind-the-scenes moments from the Dune: Part Two press tour. Alongside co-stars Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Timothée Chalamet, she’s having a ball — and a ball gown or two! This press tour has had some incredible and stunning fashion moments, but fans aren’t too happy about the 27-year-old’s recent red carpet ‘fit. Or more accurately what it took to get her into it…

In a series of photos showcasing her fitting with Maison Margiela, the actress showed off her new corset in a risqué topless black and white photo. See it for yourself (below):
YEESH! She is cinched in there like a 17th century torture device! Or an 18th century fashion accessory, we guess. Which is basically what it is!
The impossibly skinny waist the gear gave her riled up some commenters — who were angry she was “promoting starvation”:
“Can we not normalize starvation?”
“This is not a healthy look for women at all.”
“Nothing to be proud of & sets a poor example for young girls”
“That’s not good… really not healthy”
“Watch out anya people will use this for starvation inspo”
Some fans did come to The Menu star’s defense, though, writing:
“She’s not promoting starvation, guys, let a woman be free.”
“The comments don’t understand basic corset function”
“How come people think being thin is unhealthy?”
“Sensing A LOT of pettiness and jealousy in these comments”
What do U think about this, Perezcious readers? Is the corset look aspirational for folks with body issues? Is showing one’s effects problematic? Or are folks overreacting? Let us know in the comments (below).
