This makes sad news even sadder.
According to his brother, Malik Bendjelloul, the Oscar winning director of Searching for Sugar Man, committed suicide.
Johar Bendjelloul believes that his sibling’s death was a result of depression:
“I can confirm that it was suicide and that he had been depressed for a short period of time. Life is not always so easy…I don’t know how to handle it.”
So sad if this is true.
Our hearts go out to Malik’s family and friends during this dark time.
