Even though Donald Trump is mad about it, seems like Vice President-elect Mike Pence is taking his booing in stride!
As you’ll remember from yesterday, Pence was booed mercilessly while taking in a Broadway showing of Hamilton on Friday night, and almost immediately after, controversy blew up when Trump couldn’t resist tweeting about it!

But today on Fox News Sunday, Pence cleared the air regarding what he thought about the boos — and it sure sounds like the VP-elect is taking it like a politician should!
Pence said that, when the boos started, he turned and said to his daughter:
“That’s what freedom sounds like.”
Cheesy… but very true!! People are allowed to boo you, and freedom of expression is ingrained in The Constitution, regardless of what some ignorant Federal judges may believe.
Pence continued:
“I really enjoyed watching Hamilton. It was a real joy to be there. I heard a few boos. I wasn’t offended by what was said.”
In this instance, good for you, Governor!
Of course, there is the issue of Pence being aggressively anti-LGBT, which shouldn’t be overlooked (and was at least partially the cause of his booing in the first place).

Pence is also part of a troubling ticket coming to power in this country in January, and the VP-elect added this to say about The Donald and their plans in the White House:
“I just want to reassure people that what Donald Trump said on election night, he meant. He is bringing people together. … [Trump] is a man that knows his mind, he is going to surround himself with people of diverse backgrounds … and is completely focused on the people’s business. There will be a proper separation between his businesses.”
Hmm… not so sure about that last part, but, OK.
At the very least — and it sure isn’t much — Pence deserves a little bit of credit for taking the boos much, much more appropriately than Trump (as you’ll remember, below):
Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!

Proud of @HamiltonMusical. Proud of @BrandonVDixon, for leading with love.
And proud to remind you that ALL are welcome at the theater.

Artists will never apologize for speaking truth to power. Keep asking. Keep getting put in your place. It’s on. https://t.co/joybQ638RI

Donald Trump has asked someone to apologize for being rude. Always good to start your Saturday off with a laugh.

You know what? I support #BoycottHamilton. I hope it intensifies — especially during the first week of March, maybe that Sunday matinee?

I hope Mike Pence is shown a little bit more respect tomorrow night while he passes out gay conversion brochures at Rent

If anyone’s giving up their Hamilton tix, please send them to my parents so they stop asking me to get them in and if @Lin_Manuel is nice

The cast of @HamiltonMusical spoke respectfully, passionately, & articulately to VP-Elect Pence. They owe NO apology! American free speech.
— Holland Taylor (@HollandTaylor) November 19, 2016
Who gives a fuck that he asked Hamilton for an apology? A guy deemed too racist to be a federal judge is going to be our Attorney General.
— Kumail Nanjiani (@kumailn) November 19, 2016
I wonder if Pence went to Hamilton to take our focus off the Trump University fraud settlement. This administration is morally bankrupt.

Nice!!
People are pushing back!! Love it!!
