Here's Why Kanye West Actually Dropped Out Of Coachella 2019...

Kanye West

Kanye West increasingly must be finding himself WAY out there — because after hearing stories like this one about Coachella, the rest of us sure are!
The rapper quietly backed out of headlining Coachella a few weeks ago, reportedly due to a refusal by the festival’s owners to alter a stage for him and his performance needs.
And while that report actually turns out to be kind of true, the real story is so much better still…

Reporting from this weekend in Billboard holds that Kanye sprung a last-minute surprise on Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett a couple weeks ago, asking the promoter to construct a giant, custom-built DOME in the middle of the festival grounds.
The dome, West demanded, would be built by his own long-time collaborator, set designer John McGuire.
Tollett and other senior execs from Goldenvoice (Coachella’s parent company) balked at the idea, noting how not only would it be impossible because it would disrupt the entire festival, but also it would force the removal of a large section of available portable bathrooms.
Pissed off, Kanye West reportedly reacted… not so well.

From the piece (below):

“When senior executives from Coachella parent Goldenvoice explained that the dome would be impossible to build in four months and would require the AEG-owned concert promoter to rearrange the entire festival site and remove a large section of portable bathrooms, West became irritated, declaring that he was an artist with a creative vision who shouldn’t be spending his time talking about port-a-potties.
A source tells Billboard that West had taken the call while on vacation with his family and said it was Goldenvoice’s responsibility to deal with the bathrooms. He then hung up abruptly, sources said.”

Wow!!! Diva moment!!!
But the drama continued — quickly, Tollett moved to replace West with another main act, reaching out to Scooter Braun about the possibility of Ariana Grande.
And as we learned in another Billboard passage here, not only did that work — but also, Braun has apparently walked away from working with West, as well (below):

“Before the day was over, Tollett and his team at Goldenvoice were in talks with SB Projects’ founder Scooter Braun to have his client Ariana Grande replace West on the lineup. Braun had terminated his professional relationship with West in early December, Billboard has learned, marking the second split in 2018 between the mega-manager and the rapper. Less than 24 hours after West pulled out, Grande was confirmed for the final night. Australian rock band Tame Impala was elevated to the top headliner slot in December to replace Justin Timberlake, who dropped off the lineup after his rescheduled tour dates due to bruised vocal cords conflicted with Coachella’s radius clause.”

Double WOW!!!!
So THAT is how it all came to be!!
