Yikes!
Denzel Washington’s long awaited return to the Great White Way is not turning out the way he had hoped.
His play Fences opened yesterday to very mixed reviews, with his performance getting the most ridicule. Some critics are calling Denzel’s performance “commanding” while others maintain that he portrays a rather “hollow” version of his character next to his predecessor, James Earl Jones.
Not really the kind of thing you want to hear on your first night out of the gate. Also not the kind of thing you want to hear when you have already shelled out $325 for a ticket!
Hopefully, Denzel can pull it together and turn this thing around.
