A Meteor Hits Canada!

meteor.jpg
Did a meteor really hit Canada Thursday afternoon at about 5:30pm???
Many have reported and captured footage of a fireball shooting across the sky along with hearing a loud “bang” in Western Canada.
Officials say the meteor might not have actually touched ground.
Space educator Randy Atwood said, “There’s a very good chance it was what we call a bull’s eye, which is a meteorite crossing the sky at extremely quick velocity — very, very fast — and as it hits the atmosphere at about 400,000 feet, traveling at about 60 kilometres per second, this is the incredible light show that it creates.”
He added that the meteor was probably no bigger than a grapefruit! And it might have actually broken down into smaller pieces before hitting the ground or burning up before touching land.
Atwood added, “It was a beautiful show and some people might have thought it was just over the hill, and that it was the size of a house.”
Thankfully all of our Perezcious readers in Canada are safe.
