Considering our country is plagued with obesity, we all probably know a family member, friend, or loved one who is overweight. We’ve also probably had the urge to help them lose the extra pounds, but HOW do we do it?
FitPerez correspondent and celebrity personal trainer Adam Ernster is here to give advice on how to properly approach the issue.
First of all, remember that before you decide to “help” someone lose weight, they have to WANT to lose weight!
Second of all, if you know they are overweight, it’s safe to assume they do too. Don’t remind them of the problem before they are ready to face it.
As good as your intentions may be, if they aren’t executed properly they may backfire. Too much pressure to change can make them run away from the problem and back to emotional eating.
