Airbnb Guest From Hell Turns Nebraska Home Into Meth Lab!

Airbnb Guest From Hell Turns Nebraska Home Into Meth Lab!

One couple in Nebraska may never list their home on Airbnb again!

According to WOWT, Daniel and Jocelyn Medrano are now temporarily homeless after having thousands of dollars worth of damage done to their home, all because their guests turned it into a meth lab! OMG! The couple told the outlet last week that they rented their house through Airbnb over the past two years to help pay for their travel expenses during the holiday season. They thought it was a smart move at first! However, it later became an absolute nightmare!

While the Medranos were in Florida, they received a booking for an 11-day stay from a man they could not turn down! Daniel said:

“Probably one of the best bookings we have ever got, an 11-day stay. We were super excited because that right there paid for our trip to Florida.”

From the start, things were off. The Medranos recalled that the guests paid through instant booking and experienced communication difficulties throughout the process. The guest then showed up at the residence a day late. From there came a whole lot of trouble!

Jocelyn explained that she and Daniel kept an eye on the property through their surveillance cameras outside and saw that the man suddenly brought “two or three other men to the house that are not on the reservation.” Since that was against Airbnb rules, she reached out to him:

“So, then I have to message him and I am like, ‘Hey you can not do that, that is against Airbnb policy.’”

However, her message was ignored. The Medranos went on to watch the guys leave and return to their home with several odd items like utility fans, cooking pots, and more. According to Daniel, the alarm bells started firing off for them when the first man “brought four bags of white powder” into their place, adding:

“They were heavy, the guy was carrying the big bags of powder. I think they were at least 50 pounds and he started storing them in our house.”

Jeez!

The couple hoped this situation was nothing more than just a crazy party at their house, but that was not the case. They soon received messages from their neighbors asking about what was going on at their home. So, Jocelyn and Dan called the Omaha Police Department to investigate and even sent a tip through crime stoppers. The police got back to the Medranos and got their blessing to set up surveillance outside the house. Lt. Steve Fornoff with the OPD Narcotics Unit continued to tell WOWT:

“They got into a vehicle and left. We ended up following that vehicle and doing a traffic stop on them. We utilized our K-9 handlers that came on scene. They ran a dog around the car and got a positive alert for narcotics.”

What cops found at the scene is shocking! They turned the home into a meth lab! Inside, the outlet reported law enforcement discovered more than 100 pounds of meth, and two to three pounds of liquid meth was produced in less than a week. Oh s**t!

Three men were arrested and charged with meth possession. They are each being held on $500,000 bonds. As for the Medranos? They are glad the suspects were caught — but the issue isn’t over yet for them! Their home has been destroyed! WOWT said chemical dust is all over the place. There’s also a strong smell of ammonia inside and shards of meth are stuck in the carpet where their two kids play. So awful. Daniel explained:

“They used our bedroom as the drying room, same with my daughter’s room. They would dry the crystal meth there. They cook the crystal meth in our kitchen and then use our bedroom for drying.”

Now their home is unlivable and requires a massive deep clean! And it’s all very expensive! Jocelyn shared:

“Our very first preliminary estimate they gave us, without replacing furniture, without replacing paint or anything, would be over $26,000.”

Oh no!

Daniel and Jocelyn are working with Airbnb and contracts to try to rebuild their home, but it won’t be until three or four months before they can move back in. Thankfully, the Medranos have some kind friends letting them stay at their place while sorting all this out. Airbnb also seems willing to help the pair out. A spokesperson for the company told People on Sunday:

“The reported criminal activity has no place on Airbnb, and we have removed the guest from the platform. We are supporting the impacted host, including under our AirCover host damage protection, and stand ready to assist the Omaha Police Department with their investigation.”

AirCover provides up to $3 million in protection for any property damage during the stay, so hopefully, the Medranos will get their whole rebuild covered following this horrible incident! You can learn more about the case (below):
