Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban…seems like there can├óΓé¼Γäót possibly be room for another new Idol judge, right?
We previously confirmed that Miley Cyrus is out of the running and Nick Jonas is supposedly still in talks to take a seat, but what about Alanis Morissette, who was once rumored to be in talks, as well???
Well Perezcious readers, this news might just be as rough to swallow down as a Jagged Little Pill, but it looks like Mz. Morissette may NOT be gracing the Idol panel afterall!
In a recent interview, Alanis spoke on how reality talent competitions are more about performance and star status and less about singer-songwriters honing their craft!
She stated:
“[Talent shows] speak to the idea of fame being highly valued in the West. It’s not a means to an end but an end within itself which I find fascinating because it may temporarily fill a void but it really doesn’t have any sustainability.”
For someone like Alanis, who is known for that AH-Mazing voice and impeccable lyrics, it seems she’s not really sold on the whole idea.
However, Alanis did confirm she’s been in talks about joining the show, but wasn’t able to elaborate any further.
It sounds like Morissette would be better suited on a show where she could take on a mentoring role, like the judges on X Factor and The Voice do!
Hmm…maybe she should get to developing her OWN music competition show??? Do it! Do it!
