On Monday, it was revealed that Don McLean was arrested for charges regarding domestic violence. The American Pie singer was taken in after the police responded to a 2 a.m. call at his residence in Camden, Maine.
It’s said that the 70-year-old was charged with a misdemeanor for domestic violence assault. Yikes!

McLean was transported to the Knox County Jail, after being cuffed without incident, where a mug shot (above) was taken. Not to mention, the songwriter was released a few hours later after posting $10,000 for bail. That’s a pretty hefty chunk of change!
Currently, the ’70s icon lives with his wife Patrisha McLean in the small Maine town. There are no specifics yet on what exactly went down!
It’s hard to imagine that this arrest belongs to the same man who sold a handwritten copy of his big hit for $1.2 million last April. My how the mighty have fallen!
