When we heard back in 2012 that Mitch Winehouse — the father of Amy Winehouse — wanted to honor his daughter’s memory in sculpture form, we were scared the resulting creation would be a big, bronzed MESS…
BUT yay! We can breathe a sigh of relief because the artist who has been tasked with recreating the iconic singer’s likeness has promised that the piece will NOT be garish or silly.
Scott Eaton recently shared:
“She’s going to be installed on the balcony in the Roundhouse [Theatre] in the Camden area, because Camden is her home where she lived. So she’s kind of looking back towards Camden Town from the balcony.
So it’s not going to be…cheesy. She’s not with a microphone or anything like that. It’s going to be kind of natural, if you will, as if she was up there on the balcony, looking back towards home.”
Awww, it actually sounds like the sculpture will be really moving!
Scott also expressed:
“There’s a lot of artistic decisions that I have to make, but you know, they’re just going to be there├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥it’s Mitch’s daughter, so we want him to be happy and we want her family and close friends and relatives to all kind of say, ‘That’s definitely Amy.'”
Well it definitely seems like Scott’s head is in the right place when it comes to this intimidating project.
We can’t wait to see the end construction!
