Augusta National Golf Club Admits First Female Members!

It’s been a long time coming but finally Augusta National Golf Club has open its membership to women!
This is the first time women have been allowed to join in the club’s 80-year history!
Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and South Carolina businesswoman Darla Moore will be the first two women to be accepted into the club.
The club hosts the Masters Tournament and the issue of women joining the club became big when IBM was a sponsor, as they often were, but they didn’t admit IBM’s CEO Virginia Rometty as a member, as it did for the other past IBM leaders.
That’s not right. So the women’s rights activists took the issue public.
A prominent women’s rights activist said:

“We gave them a pretty big black eye in April when they dissed Ginny Rometty and did not allow her in the club as they had all of the males preceding her as CEOs of IBM. And I think they knew they could not sustain it.”

We’re so glad the club wised up and decided to let the ladies in!
This is the 21st century after all.
Equality for all!
