Breaking Bad: The Opera! The New Stage Show That's In The Works In NYC!

break bad opea edit

Walter White may have [SPOILER SPOILER] died on TV but he might soon live to see another day on a New York City stage!

A Breaking Bad opera is in the works for next year, being arranged by One World Symphony, a NY-based company known for their “out of the box” performances!

The mini-opera is set to debut in late January of next year and will feature themes from the hit AMC series as well as themes from the Percy Bysshe Shelley poem, Ozymandias.

True BB fans will remember that “Ozymandias” is actually the title of the third to last episode in the series.

Composer-conductor Sung Jin Hong says this new staged performance will ask the question, “are we all breaking bad?” He explained:

“Cancer became an allegory for evil for the protagonist in Breaking Bad. When Walt White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, we the audience emotionally supported him and forgave some of his actions, as they may have appeared to be justified. When the cancer went into remission, an intangible cancer was growing ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ his hubris and lust for power.├óΓé¼┬¥

Wowza.

Well, if it ain’t deep, it ain’t opera! And Breaking Bad has all the tragedy a show needs for a true operatic performance!

And hey, we already got to see how musical Aaron Paul is when he’s paired up with Britney Spears so we think this opera just might work!

This show ain’t over ’til the fat lady├óΓé¼┬ªcooks!!!
