Is a frontrunner to play Britney Spears finally emerging??
Over the weekend, Life & Style published a report that casting for Jon M. Chu’s highly anticipated Britney Spears biopic had come down to three major players — and we mean MAJOR! They said it was down to A-listers Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Millie Bobby Brown. A source told the outlet:
“Britney is someone that a lot of Gen Z girls look up to, they’ve been hearing her music all their lives, to them she really is an icon. Plus, with John M. Chu writing and directing and all the heat already on the project, it’s being seen as a career making movie, there’s a lot of discussion about who will get it and a definite competitive vibe.”
The insider continued:
“Millie Bobby Brown has been openly campaigning for it, a lot of people think that’s the motivation for her to go bleach blonde, she wants people to see her in this role. She’s got a great singer, but there are also a number of pop stars clamoring for this including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande.”
Sabrina is definitely one of the music industry’s biggest it-girls right now… So is Ari! AND Jon just directed her in Wicked! So the report would make a lot of sense… But wait until you hear what Jon himself has to say!

On Sunday, the filmmaker replied to a post on X (Twitter) sharing Life & Style’s report… And he shut it down full stop, tweeting:
“None of this is true. Sounds exciting but have not had one conversation about casting this movie yet. We are way too early in development. Sorry”

Inneresting! He didn’t actually rule any of these ladies out… He just said it’s too early to report ANYTHING because the process hasn’t even gotten started!
