Britney Spears’ Ex Sam Asghari Says She’s ‘Oppressed’ Like Iranian Women

Sam Asghari is drawing similarities between his ex and his war-torn native country.

On Wednesday’s episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Britney Spears‘ ex husband sat down to discuss the topic of Iran and the current war that’s going on over there. Near the end of his interview, though, the model touched on the topic of his ex and her recent DUI arrest.

While chatting about Britney, he compared her struggles to the oppression of Iranian women. He said:

“I mean, coming from the country of Iran and seeing women being oppressed, that’s something that stuck [out] to me, and that was a value that carried my whole entire life. And, you know, in a way, not comparing the situation whatsoever, she was also oppressed by many people that took advantage of her and sort of had the same experience as women do in Iran.”

The 32-year-old went on to say he’s “an advocate for women’s rights [who] wants freedom of speech and wants freedom for everybody”:

“It was hard to believe and hard to see that someone in America was being oppressed.”

And he definitely got the inside scoop! He and Brit were together for seven years. Wild to hear this coming from him.

And as far as how Sam feels about Britney? He’s got nothing but love:

“I admire her very well. I’ve seen what she struggles with. Even though we were married for one year, we were together for seven years, so my values for her, my respect for her, always stands.”

Wrapping up his interview, Sam pleaded with the public to give his ex privacy so she can recover:

“I’m a strong believer that she needs her privacy, and everybody makes mistakes. If she made a mistake, I really think she’s a strong woman and she could come back from this … I truly believe she can recover from this.”
