Britney Spears' Team Says She Has Control Over Her Finances & Career Ahead Of Conservatorship Hearing!

Britney Spears' team argues that she's free

Britney Spears’ management team is ready for the court showdown regarding her hotly discussed conservatorship.
As we reported, the superstar’s conservatorship will be questioned by a judge Friday, following weeks of rumors that her team has been pushing the singer beyond her limits and forcing her into commitments against her will — such as her recent 30-day stay at a mental health facility.
While exactly what’s been going on behind the scenes with the 37-year-old remains unclear, her management is apparently maintaining that, despite what others have claimed, Brit is the one who calls the shots on her career.

Sources close to the conservatorship told The Blast that today’s hearing will likely address the Toxic singer’s medical status and question the advisors who manage her business and current treatment regimen.
One topic that will definitely come up is Britney’s Las Vegas residency deal that was postponed last year amid her father Jamie Spears’ health crisis — which reportedly triggered the downward spiral of the singer’s mental health and led to her checking in to a wellness center in April.
During that latest rehab stint, fans became concerned with the singer’s well-being after sources claimed that she didn’t check herself into the facility voluntarily and was being held there against her will. This rumor galvanized the #FreeBritney movement, which was made up of fans who believe the Pop Princess hasn’t had any control over her life since her 2007 breakdown.

Well, Brit’s management team is prepared to argue otherwise: they plan to tell the judge that the star was the one who wanted to keep working prior to her mental health taking a nosedive.
The Blast’s sources involved with the mother-of-two’s Vegas deal claim that at the end of last year, the singer started calling her team and expressing the desire to do another residency. As one source explained:

“Britney goes all or nothing when it comes to business, and this was all in.”

From there, a discussion reportedly went down between Spears’ counsel, including her father/sole conservator, about whether she was in the right frame of mind to keep working.
They apparently decided that she was absolutely ready — so, her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, locked down a contract that became her ill-fated Domination residency.
The insiders say that Brit’s team felt she was completely “functioning and stable” during the first days of the Domination residency. But soon, it became clear that she was beginning to unravel. This apparently caused her doctors to switch up her medication — which, combined with the stress of Jamie’s illness, created a “perfect storm” of chaos that resulted in the singer’s mental health crisis.

Basically, Brit’s team is arguing that the former Mouseketeer is extraordinarily wealthy and powerful, and is free to decide when and how hard she wants to work. So, they’re implying that the recent mental health struggles were a byproduct of the singer’s desire to keep performing at a time when she probably should have taken a break instead.
As for the speculation that Britney’s a helpless performance slave, her team is hoping that what’s explained during Friday’s hearing will put that chatter to rest.

Aside from asking for updates on the star’s condition and work status, the judge will also make a decision on whether or not Britney’s mom, Lynne Spears, will be more involved with the conservatorship.
As for that, the sources say Jamie totally supports Lynne being more involved and, despite being separated for years, there is no drama between the two parents.
We’ll keep you updated on any developments from the hearing.
