Ex-Wife Linda Thompson Reveals Details Behind Caitlyn Jenner's Desire To Have A Sex Change Back In 1985

Linda Thompson
continues to be one of Caitlyn Jenner‘s biggest supporters.
The 66-year-old — who notoriously dated Elvis Presley before marrying Bruce Jenner in 1981 — recently penned a memoir titled A Little Thing Called Life, where she opens up about her past relationships and life in the spotlight.
In an excerpt of the book obtained by People, Thompson reveals the father of her two children Brody Jenner and Brandon Jenner told her back in 1985 about her desire to transition from male to female.

Linda remembers the I Am Cait star confessing:

“I am a woman trapped in a man’s body.”

To which she responded:

“‘Whoa, Bruce, honey, have you looked in a mirror?’ I protested. ‘You are the epitome of the ideal man!'”

Jenner went on to explain:

“I have lived in the wrong body my whole life. It is a living hell, and I really would like to move forward with the process of becoming a woman.”

After failed therapy and attempts to save their marriage, the couple divorced later that same year.
The Memphis native wrote:

“As we tried to work through our feelings, Bruce told me he was considering traveling out of the country, possibly to Denmark, to try to have the gender reassignment surgery anonymously and then come back as a female.”

Jenner planned to come back into his sons lives as “Aunt Heather:”

“He thought maybe he would reenter their lives as a female relative. He was grasping for a lifeline. As devastated as I was, my heart bled for Bruce.”

Remaining loyal to her former partner, Thompson never told anyone the former Olympian’s secret:

“I felt such an obligation to keep Bruce’s gender dysphoria his secret that I did not even tell my sons until they were 31 and 29 years old, respectively.”

Adding:

“I wanted them to experience enough life and garner enough knowledge, confidence and compassion to be able to deal with their father’s true self.”

Wow! This is some powerful stuff.
