Carrie Underwood may have been Blown Away by a tornado made from special effects in the music video for her smash song of the same name, but when it comes to the real life consequences of such a devastating force a nature, she’s wasted no time jumping right into action!
In the wake of the lost lives and mass destruction at the hands of the tornados that ravaged Oklahoma, the country superstar has followed in the footsteps of Kevin Durant, Blake Shelton and countless other heroes by donating $100 MILLION to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in her native state!
She says in a statement:
“I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness. With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados.”
And Neal Litvack, the chief development officer for the Red Cross, continues:
“The impact of the tornados in Oklahoma and the Midwest was devastating and the road to recovery will be long for many families. Through the generosity of Carrie, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comfort now, and with lasting help as they move toward recovery.”
Just incredible!
We can’t even imagine what all those poor people are going through and feeling, after everything they’ve lost in such a short span of time, but it’s incredibly inspirational to see so many individuals like Carrie truly stepping up and doing everything they can to make these dark days all that more bright and bearable!
Our thoughts to go out to all those suffering or being affected by this tragedy!
Stay strong!
