Cassie Gave Ex Diddy A Chance To Settle Lawsuit BEFORE She Went Public -- And Began His Downfall!

Attorney claims Cassie gave Diddy chance to settle before filing lawsuit -- but he refused

What?! Diddy could have ended his legal drama with Cassie Ventura long before she filed her lawsuit!

Cassie sued the music mogul in late November 2023, claiming she was trapped in a “cycle of abuse, violence and sex trafficking” at his hands during their decade-long relationship. The allegations are horrifying. The Step Up 2 actress claimed he raped her and forced her to have sex with male sex workers — which he recorded. While Diddy denied the accusations, he did pay his ex-girlfriend an unknown amount to settle the suit one day later. That looked like guilt in the court of public opinion — and ultimately turned out to be the beginning of the end for the rapper.

Her lawsuit caused a ripple effect as people came forward with similar accusations of sexual assault, abuse, and more against the rapper in lawsuits. Diddy has denied all the claims. But it went beyond civil court. The Department of Homeland Security raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami in March. Two months later, the horrifying video of Diddy abusing Cassie in a hotel hallway in 2016 came out, backing the allegations she made in the settled suit.

Fast forward to September 2024, he was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and more. Per the indictment, the Bad Boy Records founder allegedly hosted drug-and-alcohol-fueled sex parties called “Freak Offs,” where he forced men and women to perform non-consensual sexual acts and often filmed them. These often would take place right after his huge parties full of A-listers, leading many to question how many celebs took part in the illicit afterparties.

Combs pleaded not guilty and is in jail awaiting his trial on May 5. He’s been fighting the accusations in every way he can. But it sounds like he could have avoided all of this!

According to a preview obtained by The Guardian on Monday, attorney and legal commentator Donte Mills claims in Law & Crime’s upcoming three-episode podcast series, The Rise and Fall of Diddy, that Cassie gave him a chance to quietly settle before filing! And therefore before going public!

Mills — who has intimate knowledge about the case — said the singer reached out to Diddy when New York passed the Adult Survivors Act in May 2022, which gave sexual assault survivors a one-year window to file civil suits even after the expiration of the statute of limitations. Cassie allegedly warned him she planned to file her lawsuit against him unless they settled privately first:

“She came to him before she filed [any] lawsuit and said, ‘I believed I was wronged by you’ And she gave him an opportunity to settle the case before she brought [a] lawsuit.”

Per Mills, their legal teams went into negotiations on the matter, but were unsuccessful in finding a resolution:

“I know that both Sean Combs’ attorneys and Cassie’s attorneys were in conversation, in talks, to see if they can resolve the lawsuit, but they were not able to and those settlement negotiations fell through.”

We all know what happened from there. Ultimately, the lawyer believes “the downfall of Sean Combs … began [with] the Cassie Ventura lawsuit.” Can’t disagree with that. Wow. If the Me & U artist never filed, there’s no way of knowing if others would have come forward. We mean, so many were scared for so long. Damn, we bet Diddy now regrets not settling before…
