Something about 2018 made this the year of the clapback, because celebrities from all across the spectrum were SERIOUSLY hell-bent on getting back at each other, at fans, at online trolls, at their arch enemies, and even at ex-lovers! Maybe the deeply disastrous dealings of Donald Trump‘s presidency dragged everyone down into the pits of petty and personal revenge?!
Whatever it is, the last twelve months made for some incredible clapbacks — and we’ve got the best of the best for you to re-live along with us on this ninth day of Perezmas (below)!!!
Ariana Grande, To Pete Davidson & Saturday Night Live

In the post-apocalyptic after-breakup haze that was left at the end of Ari and Pete’s lightning-fast flameout, SNL kiiiiinda milked the damn thing for ratings… and it backfired. OK, not really; their spoofs and skits referencing Pete’s once high-profile relationship were funny enough AND we don’t fault Pete for doing the very comedian thing of poking fun at himself; it’s just that Ariana didn’t exactly like it, and she took to social media to voice some of her displeasure…
Kourtney Kardashian, To Everyone Who Says She Never Goes To Work

This isn’t a joke… Kourtney seriously clapped back against those (in her family and on Instagram) who felt like she was being just a little too lazy this year. Of course, when you take a look at her IG and see all the #vacay pics from exotic locales… it kinda makes ya wonder, no?! Regardless, in her clapback (low-key aimed at work-a-holic Kim Kardashian West, natch), Kourt made sure to let us all know she #grinds as much as she goes on #vacay. Okay!!!
Halsey, To Machine Gun Kelly

Halsey is not here for you to spout dumb s**t about her. If you do have dumb s**t to spout about her, and you choose to open your big mouth — especially in public, like Machine Gun Kelly did this year about rumored secret love — you should be prepared to feel the wrath of Halsey. That is all!

In maybe the most unlikely clapback of the year (hence our header pic choice of Miz Roberts!), the Pretty Woman star got in a public spat with… Instagram trolls? Wait, are we reading this right? JULIA ROBERTS got in a fight with RANDOM IG TROLLS?? You sure we’re not talking about, like, Khloe Kardashian?
Khloe Kardashian, To More Instagram Haters

OK, now we’re getting somewhere! Khloe clapped back at trolls and commenters approximately 443 times in this calendar year. If you come for Khloe, you will feel her wrath. Don’t do it! It’s not worth it!
Drita D’Avanzo, To Farrah Abraham

Drita D’Avanzo and Farrah Abraham went AT IT this year. Clapbacks on clapbacks; even their clapbacks had clapbacks. But if you’re not already caught up on this sordid story of celebrity boxing and reality TV gone wrong, it’s honestly not even worth the energy to start back at the start. You’ve missed the boat to see this train wreck, and it’s over. W’re exhausted. It’s been a YEAR, y’all. LET. US. LIVE!!!

Keeping it all in the family, Tommy Lee’s son clapped back against drummer-boy pops in the shadiest of ways this year… which just so happened to be the perfect time to slide back into the public eye and promote the coming reboot of The Hills. What’s that? You believe in coincidences, too? [Honorable mention to Tommy’s attempted — and aborted — clapback on Travis Scott; if you come for the king, Tommy, you best not miss!]
Chad Michael Murray, To Sophia Bush

What’s that saying? “Let sleeping dogs lie,” right? Sophia Bush obviously didn’t feel the need to live that out as her truth earlier this year when she came for Chad Michael Murray in an interview about the pair’s ill-fated marriage. Seeing an opportunity to get back in the limelight, the former Dawson’s Hill star (or was it One Tree Creek? Who can remember such things?) quickly clapped back at Miz Bush, and then his current wife did, too, and no good rest was had by any sleeping dog for a while in that realm of the entertainment world.
Roseanne Barr, To Wendy Williams

Holy s**t! Roseanne Barr made a 2018 year-end round-up list for something other than her racism?? What are the chances?!
