Chappell Roan won’t stand for any bulls**t!
While walking the red carpet at Wednesday night’s MTV VMAs, the Good Luck, Babe! singer hit back hard after an apparent pap was rude to her! In a clip of the incident, the 26-year-old was standing with her back to the photographers while getting her medieval outfit primped. In the crowd of paps, someone yelled at her:
“You shut the f**k up!”
Jeez!

Chappell, who later won Best New Artist, spun around and started pointing at the rude heckler, clapping back:
“You shut the f**k up! Don’t. Not me, bitch!”
Called out!!
The fiery reaction earned her a ton of cheers from those in the area, including from one apparent media staffer who said, “You tell ’em, girl.” See the dramatic moment (below):

The fact she was wearing such a fierce outfit makes this look even more badass!
Further down the carpet, the musician stopped to talk with ET. During their chat, she opened up about the heated interaction and why she fought back:
“This is quite overwhelming and quite scary. I think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying. And I yelled back. I yelled back! You don’t get to yell at me like that.”
Let’s not forget she was doing nothing problematic! The songwriter — who has admittedly struggled with her mental health while in the public eye — shouldn’t be forced to deal with so much hate while doing her literal job. Especially not from another industry professional! Not cool!

The Hot To Go! artist received support from some other rising stars, like Noah Kahan, who tweeted:
“I’ll never forget leaving Clive Davis and the horrific s**t photographers and paparazzi or whatever were saying to me in front of my sweet mom who couldn’t believe it was actually happening. Love this @ChappellRoan way to stand up for yourself”
In a follow-up X (Twitter) post, the Stick Season crooner acknowledged that while there are many “kind” photographers out there, the majority create a “toxic” environment for celebs! He continued:
“Most I’ve interacted with are kind and professional but sadly there are some parasites who intentionally instigate confrontations with caring people who are there to live out a dream in order to further their own interests. Its so toxic and f**k them for that”
Awful. Chappell has already taken a stand against some of the ickier parts of fame while demanding fans respect her boundaries better. With that in mind, it seems only right that she’d stand up for herself during an uncomfortable and combative situation like this!
What do YOU think, Perezcious readers? Did she handle this well? Sound OFF (below)!
