Charlie Sheen‘s big HIV reveal came as a surprise to quite a few people. But ex-girlfriend Amanda Bruce told Dr. Oz that she chose to have sex with the star, knowing full well about his diagnosis.
On Wednesday, the nurse went on The Dr. Oz show to open up about her sexual history with the 50-year-old, and how she willingly had unprotected sex with the actor even though she had been informed that he was HIV-positive.

But, the blonde admitted it didn’t start out that way. She explained that she had waited for a little bit before deciding to ditch the protection.
Amanda began taking pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and also consulted the Anger Management alum’s physician, Dr. Robert Huizenga, before engaging in sexual activities — without condoms — with the celeb.
Dr. Huizenga said that, between the PrEP and the level of the virus in the thespian’s system, her risk of getting the disease was very small:
“I was the doctor for her boyfriend, we called in other doctors and they felt the risk of transmission if she took the prophylaxis and he had undetectable level was miniscule. We can’t say it’s zero.”
Even though the chance of contraction wasn’t high, the doctor continued to advise against it, adding:
“And so basically I think my advice to her was, ‘Don’t do it, but the risk is miniscule.’ And she elected to then go forward because she felt so close and wanted that level of intimacy.”
Amanda justified her decision by saying:
“The reality is, we had known each other for many months before we engaged in [sexual relations], and we were a couple, I was in love with him.”
She explained:
“We weren’t initially unprotected, obviously. We became unprotected when we decided to be exclusive and we had a conversation about that.”
The beauty admitted that she and the New York native broke up after dating for about seven or eight months. She also clarified that she is HIV-negative.
