There’s just so much wrong with this story we barely know where to begin.
A Chinese obstetrician was sentenced to death after being found guilty of kidnapping and selling seven babies to human traffickers in the Fuping, Shaanxi province.
Zhang Shuxia, who worked at Shaanxi’s Fuping Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital, reportedly told multiple parents that their infants were suffering from serious diseases and convinced them to give up their children.
A ruling by the court was released and reads:
“Zhang used her position as medical personnel to fabricate reports about the infants, saying they suffered from birth defects or diseases that were hard to cure. She abducted and sold several new-born infants, violating professional and social ethics.”
Fortunately, six of the seven children were found and rescued, but sadly one baby girl died.
Zhang was sentenced to death with a two year reprieve, and in China it’s common for suspended death penalties to eventually be changed to life imprisonment.
If you ask us, life behind bars might be a better punishment for someone responsible for such heinous acts.
