Chris Noth Raising Diabetes Awareness

Chris Noth diabetes awareness

In the wake of news that diabetes has taken a sharp incline around the world, as well as a recent Centers for Disease Control study that found 7 million people in the US with the disease were undiagnosed, one of televisions biggest stars is taking action.

Sex and the City alum Chris Noth has teamed up with Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company, to launch the national diabetes screening and education campaign, Ask.Screen.Know.

In a statement about the campaign which hopes to inform those 7 million Americans unaware of their health risks, Noth said:

“This is a disease that’s way too much under the radar. We’re trying to get ahead of the game with people; … encouraging [them] to call [their] doctors and get a blood test.”

The campaign not only encourages regular testing for the disease, but a healthier lifestyle including adopting a better diet and participating in more physical activity.

The actor, who also left his mark on the Law & Order franchise, admits he is no expert, but hopes his famous face will peak people’s interest, explaining:

“I’m not a doctor; people know me from Sex and the City and Law & Order. If I can get their attention, then so be it.”

Such an awesome initiative! Not only will the campaign help reduce the amount of American’s becoming diabetic, but also help make people aware of the disease who already ARE diabetic!
