A Native American tribe has claimed that the Out of the Furnace movie with Christian Bale is derogatory towards its people!
The Ramapough Lunaape Nation has just filed a whopping $50 million federal lawsuit against the filmmakers of Out of the Furnace, claiming that the tribe’s depiction in the film is embarrassing and shameful:

“The community is depicted as lawless, drug-addicted, impoverished and violent; and the members appear to be of some sort of racially mixed heritage.”

The Ramapough say that the film’s scribes Scott Cooper and Brad Inglesby used too many details about their tribe to be coincidental.
Some of the characters have the same last names as Ramapough tribe members, and the criminal gang headed by Woody Harrelson‘s character in the film goes by the name of the Jackson Whites, which the group says is a derogatory historical term.
Yeah, that’s not cool.
Lydia Cotz, the attorney representing the Ramapough, claims that the movie grossly misrepresented her plaintiffs:

“After the movie was released they were exposed to ridicule, hatred and shame and as a result, suffer emotionally. The movie has no true artistic value and offends the sensibilities of any reasonable person.”

No word yet from the filmmakers of Out of the Furnace, but this does not look good for them!
