Family Source Describes Christian Slater's Father's $20 Million 'Baseless' Lawsuit As A 'Long & Difficult Situation'

We knew there had to be more to the story.
Yesterday we told you that Christian Slater was being sued for $20 million by his father Michael Hawkins — who claimed the Mr. Robot star “ruined” his career by saying in an interview last year that Hawkins was “suffering from manic-depressive schizophrenia.”
Slater’s father (real name Thomas Knight Slater) appeared on the soap opera Ryan’s Hope in the ’70s and his last credited project on IMDB was the 1988 action film Midnight Run.

A source close to the family says Hawkins has a history of personal struggle:

“His father has had his troubles. Christian has done what he can for him financially by supporting him for many years, but eventually had to distance himself because of his erratic behavior.”

Adding:

“It’s been a long and difficult situation. The lawsuit is baseless.”

Ugh. This is so sad.
We hope this all gets sorted out soon…
